Primavera Sound, Barcelona festival

Ok, this is another one of the reasons why I wish I lived in Barcelona and not at the end of the world.

Last year, what with the Xacobeo, we had a great 3-day event here in Santiago, and I got to see MAssive Attack, Chemical Bros. Iggy, The Darkness, Echo and the Bunnymen(sigh! ), THE CURE, (double sigh, them woz the days),to name but a few. But that was a one off event.

Every time the Primavera Sound thing gets going I get envious. And just to make things even worse, this year I did NOT manage to get friggin tickets for U2,(and Keane!!), which would have meant killing two birds with one stone.
But I'll be killing one anyhow, by popping over soon...

My apologies to any animal lovers who may feel offended by my allusions to bird battering.

I wouldn't kill a fly.
(Would squash the bloody mozzie flying round my room, though...)

Jeez. Sometimes I do write more on other people's blogs than on my own.
:)

11:52 p. m.

María, you didn't miss much this time round, believe me, although Echo & the Bunnymen played (and were very good, as were Iggy & the Stooges, the Arcade Fire, Sophia & Nouvelle Vague. Mercury Rev were disappointing, as were New Order, and some of the other bands we glimpsed, but didn't stick around long enough to catch their set.

I'm really glad you wrote here, by the way - I'll be sure to do the same on your blog soon :)

10:57 a. m.

Yeah, but in Santiago you get huge free tapas with your beer, which in Barcelona is not the case.

10:30 p. m.

Excuse me, we get what?
You must tell me exactly who you know here, Mr guiri1967, coz I was paying 6 euros for a piddly little glass of Estrella Galicia, and 9 Euros por the same piddly little glass filled with Rum and Coke. I felt like I was back in Lunnun!
Kisiños to both of you.

12:18 a. m.

maRia, that was because there was something ON on the day you were there :) At least I had the impression they were taking me to the bars at random, but maybe they were avoiding the ones you went to. Everywhere we went, they gave us something to eat for free. The bars are known informally for the kind of tapa they give you, e.g. "La patata".

Kisiños

I have to agree with Luc, María, although I don't know if prices have changed recently - at Easter, we found that the prices in modt of Spain had gone up a lot since our last tour, and at first I'd thought it was just Barcelona that was expensive.
